Citizens Committee Sets Goal

November 2013 was the inaugural year for the Merced Field of Honor.  Merced Sunrise Rotary, with co-sponsor Merced College, have for the past three years honored veterans, active duty military, and first responders by placing over 1,000 American flags on the front lawn of Merced College the week proceeding Veterans Day.  These events have garnered funds beyond those necessary to host these events.  We have used some of these excess funds to assist projects benefiting veterans, active military, and first responders in our community and we endeavor to continue to do just that over time.  Additionally, we are now actively working on a project that will honor veteran’s year round.  A citizen’s committee has formed with the goal to renaming "M" Street, "Veterans Boulevard."

In order to meet this goal, we need your assistance.  We need petition signatures that can be taken to the Merced City Council.  The Council can, based upon the request of citizens, initiate the process to convert street signs along "M" Street to signs saying "Veterans Boulevard."

We need your support by spreading the word to others in the community.  We also need the support of a few volunteers willing to campus the those impacted by this potential change. Join in with support to our cause.

Can we count on your support?
